To provide visionary leadership in uniting the community's resources of donors, volunteers, and organizations. This is expressed through:

  • A single community campaign for member agencies.

  • Volunteer needs assessment and allocations to agencies for year-round operations and programs.

  • Consultation services to member agencies.

  • Community planning.

  • Volunteer recruitment and training.

Provides emergency assistance to disaster victims and supports emergency responders.  Offers education in disaster preparedness and health and safety education, including training and certification in first aid, CPR, AED, workplace safety, water safety, swimming and life guarding.  Also offers youth services, armed forces emergency services, and need-based assistance with utilities for seniors 60 and over.

The Shelter provides safe house protection, a 24-hour hotline, emergency transportation, advocacy, legal referral, counseling, children's services, transitional housing, community education and outreach to shelter residents and nonresidents from a six-county area including Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, Tyler, Newton and Jasper counties.

Provides food to 141 non-profit agencies with programs to feed the poor.  Additional programs include: School Tools – provides school supplies to 32 elementary schools with a high percentage of impoverished children; Texas Second Chance - provides job training in warehousing to inmates; Nutrition Education - provides nutrition education to low-income families and individuals.

Provides  medical, spiritual, and psychosocial care to terminally ill persons and their families in their homes, in nursing homes, and in assisted living centers.  Care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Following a death, family members are provided grief counseling for one year.

Maintains domestic and overseas entertainment and provides a liaison for communication to men and women in military service.
